Welcome to Mejeriet! An old farm dairy from the 1800s that was converted into a cozy and unique home in the mid-1900s. Since then, not much has been done to the house.
The farm is located at the foot of the “flowering mountain,” Kinnekulle, in a beautiful area offering nature experiences, hiking trails, ancient ruins, and cultural sites.
6 km from the village of Hällekis and 7 km from the small town of Götene. 12 km to three swimming beaches on Lake Vänern.
Mejeriet has two floors, with the bedrooms on the upper floor.
The space
The dairy is an old dairy with most of the original features still intact, such as the doors and windows.”Charming, quirky, and a winner. Slightly sloping floors and somewhat odd angles on the walls. Lots of layers of paint.
There is no washing machine or dryer in the property, but if you need them, you can borrow the ones in Mejeriet's basement (the brewery) when they are available. There may also be homemade laundry detergent there.
Clean sheets and towels are provided.
Four beds are standard (one bunk bed in the small bedroom and one double bed in the large bedroom), but there is a decent sofa bed in the Study, or an extra bed for the small bedroom.
The dairy is located next to the farm's main house, with its own small garden in between. There is outdoor furniture and a charcoal grill. The garden has no fence, but there is a large bush between the houses that makes the garden quite private.
Guest access
You will have the entire first floor and the upper floor of Mejeriet, as well as the small garden. There is no washing machine in the property, but if needed, you can borrow a washing machine and dryer in the basement (the brewery). The dairy has two entrances, both with stairs. The two bedrooms are located upstairs and are accessed via an indoor staircase. Parking is just outside.
On the property, there are horses and other animals, which means that the accommodation is not suitable for people with allergies. Therefore, we do not allow dogs.
Other things to note
There is a large wood-fired sauna and a wood-fired hot tub that we are happy to lend out when they are available. Just let me know if you want to use them, and we'll show you how to do it.
On the property, there are horses and other animals. It is often possible to bring your own horses (resting paddock + outdoor stall) if you want to ride in the area. If desired, we can help arrange this with the people who own the stables.
On the property, there are many horses, and it is also frequented by various wild animals, such as hares, squirrels, deer, and many birds. We are happy to have visitors, so please avoid disturbing them if you see them.
